Attention parents:
It's been hot lately. Please remind your child to drink plenty of liquids during the day. You may even want to send a water bottle or juice for snack. Thanks.
Check attached calendar for upcoming dates.
Don't forget:
** Please send in your child's headphone in a labeled ziplock bag as soon as possible.
** Please send in your conference confirmation slip ASAP if you haven't done so. Make sure you call the office and reschedule if you can not make your appointment date/time. Thank you.

Week of 9/04: Favorite Team sport
Week of 9/10: Grandparents are special because...
If your child shares on Monday, please be prepared to share on Tuesday this upcoming week due to the holiday.
Preparation Tips:
1. Start with introducing yourself.
2. Add 2 or 3 sentences to describe your topic.
3. Stand up straight, look at your audience, and speak clearly.
4. For something extra, bring a picture or photo of your favorite team sport.
Book Bags:
Great job returning all the bookbags on time this week! Please make time this week to complete the given assignments. You will find the bookbag activity inside the bag. Don't forget to underline the title of the book and write down the author's name.
It's VERY important that you return all parts of the book bag on Thursday morning next week.
Language Arts:
This week we played with our ABC's. Ask your child to do the ABC dance for you at home. We also created many class books to practice our beginning sounds. Last, but not least, we constructed the ABC's to hang around our classroom.
On Friday, we read our first Scholastic News magazine. We practiced coloring our Step Up to Writing bullets, and wrote/drew details.
For extra credit, please check your teacher's blog and answer the question!
Math:
We continued making graphs and patterns this week. Your child has been practicing the vocabulary: tally marks, pictographs, bar graphs, and statements. For extra pattern practice at home: try building patterns using household items.
Science:
This week we started to talk about healthy living. It's important to send healthy snacks to school each week. Ask your child what healthy snack he/she likes to eat.
Other:
It's important to follow the dress codes at school. Please make sure all shirts cover the top of the child's shoulder. (No thin strapped tank tops, please.) Second, children should have clothing that covers all undergarments. So, if your daughter wears a skirt, please have shorts underneath. Last, please send your child to school with good fitting shoes. We have had problems with children taking off shoes in class, and/or wearing shoes that are too big. Thanks for your cooperation.
From PSCO:
We are in desperate need in your donations. Check out the following link for more information. http://www.cupertino.k12.ca.us/portal.www
Have a great 3-day weekend. Get plenty of rest, and stay cool!

Language Arts:
This we practiced writing our names in our best handwriting. We talked about how many letters were in our names, and how are names start with capital letters. Last we talked about places in the world, and things we can do that start with the same letter as our name. Come see our names all over our room!
Math:
This week we started our skills groups for graphing and patterns. Students are learning out to sort, tally, graph, and give statements about graphs. We have been gathering many different types of data to make real graphs, pictographs and bar graphs.
We also had a celebration for our 10th day of school on Wednesday. We now are working on learning groups of ten and place value.
Social Studies:
In Social Studies we are learning about how to get along with others. We made our "Talk It Out" stoplights. It helps us learn different strategies to solve our conflicts.

It was great to see so many parents at lunch on the lawn. Thank you for taking time out of your busy days to come join us at school.
